Last Friday, a Christmas feast was served to 200+ patients, clients and their families at our Social Enterprise Hub in Mparntwe, Alice Springs. The sun was shining, the country music was flowing, and everyone had a smile on their face. The day was a joint effort from all of Purple House with staff from every team in Alice Springs rolling up their sleeves to help out. The Operations team cooked up the BBQ, Malpa staff handed out plates of food, Volunteers made decorations, and the Finance team were present from set up to pack down. The highlight of the day was a special visit from Santa Claus, aka Purple House’s Payroll Officer Brian! So much fun was had in the Santa Photo Booth with everyone getting to take home their photo with Father Christmas.
Lunch consisted of roast meat, sausages and a range of colourful, renal friendly salads with a dessert of ginger cakes enthusiastically decorated by staff. Our newly elected Chairperson, Marlene Spencer, gave a speech reflecting on the year and welcoming everyone to the party and ex-Chairperson Linda Anderson said a prayer before the meal. It was a special day filled with love, compassion and festive spirit, a celebration fit for the Purple House family.
