Hold your event with us!
In 2021, the Purple House opened a community focused social enterprise hub on the east side of Alice Springs. This welcoming and tranquil space is easily accessible from anywhere in town, and just a 1-2 minute drive or short walk from the CBD. With beautifully renovated buildings full of character and shaded outdoor spaces surrounded by trees and grass, the site is the perfect location for your meetings and events. Purple House is a non profit Indigenous organisation with two decades of successful health service delivery in town and remote communities across Central Australia and the Top End. People, community, country and culture are at the centre of what we do, and that ethos is embedded in our social enterprise hub. The main event space is filled with the stunning work of Western Desert artists and you’ll often enjoy the soothing scents of bush medicine wafting across the lawn from our Bush Balm house. It’s an events space designed to help people connect with each other and to share culture. There’s nothing quite like it in Alice Springs!
Meeting Spaces
The main meeting/event space, known as the Purple Shed, is a WWII structure full of character that has been given a serious upgrade! It’s light and airy, with doors that open out onto a sun filled paved area at one end and a covered patio with seating at the side – perfect for tea and lunch breaks. There are three covered outdoor spaces and an open grassy area that are flexible use for meal/coffee breaks or to spread out into smaller groups. The Purple Shed is a multi-function space which can be set up for meetings and workshops, theatre style, and for social or networking events. It has a large screen with AV capacity to link up your zoom gatherings, show a movie or run presentations from your laptop or USB. The space has split AC/heating as well as ceiling fans and the site is wheelchair accessible.
Catering
The Purple Shed has a new commercial kitchen which can enhance your event by providing light tea/coffee breaks, morning/afternoon tea and lunch. Talk to us about your event and we’re happy to chat about the options we can provide. Water and self-service tea making facilities are included in your venue hire. We do ‘proper’ coffee from our Italian coffee machine which can be part of your catering booking.
Cultural experiences
Add some cultural experiences to your event as an opportunity to learn more about traditional knowledge and cultural practices, and as a great way to bring people together. Our Bush Balm team can provide 30 minute bush medicine making demonstrations ($20 per person) or you can include kangaroo tail cooking on our purpose built fire pit as part of your event experience. (cost dependent on other catering and numbers) To keep them viable we do have minimum numbers on these experiences.
