Purple House Social Enterprise Hub

In 2021, the Purple House opened a community focused social enterprise hub on the east side of Mpartnwe (Alice Springs). This welcoming and tranquil space holds beautifully renovated buildings full of character and shaded outdoor spaces surrounded by trees and grass. Purple House is a non profit Indigenous organisation with two decades of successful health service delivery from our base in town and across remote communities in the NT, WA and SA. People, community, country and culture are at the centre of what we do, and that ethos is embedded in our Social Enterprise Hub. The Purple Shed is filled with the stunning work of Western Desert artists and the soothing scents of bush medicine waft across the lawn from our Bush Balm house. It’s a space designed to help people connect with each other and to share culture. There’s nothing quite like it in Alice!

The main meeting space, known as the Purple Shed, is a WWII structure that has been given an upgrade! It’s light and airy, with doors that open out onto a sun filled paved area at one end and a covered patio with seating at the side. There are three covered outdoor spaces and an open grassy area that are flexible use. The Purple Shed is a multi-function space which we use for meetings, training, workshops and a wide range of wellbeing and cultural engagement events. It has a large screen with AV capacity, AC/heating as well as ceiling fans and is wheelchair accessible. The Purple Shed has a new commercial kitchen which provides renal friendly hot lunches during the week for Purple House patients and clients.  The Purple Shed kitchen team also provide delicious treats for Purple House events!

Cultural experiences

Learn more about traditional knowledge and cultural practices by booking in a bush medicine demonstration with our Bush Balm team. They provide 30 minute bush medicine making demonstrations ($20 per person with minimum and maximum guest numbers). You’ll also have the opportunity to purchase Bush Balm products right where they are made, as well as a selection of beautiful gifts from other local Indigenous social enterprises. If you’re interested in booking a bush medicine demonstration please email bushbalm@purplehouse.org.au.

Venue Hire

We are no longer accepting external bookings for the Purple Shed.

We’ve made the decision to focus the space on our wellbeing program for Purple House patients/clients and on Purple House events where we have an opportunity to share our story and celebrate culture.

Thank you to the many fabulous organisations we have had the opportunity to host for events and training.

If you’ve got a question about a current or past booking please email us on thepurpleshed@purplehouse.org.au.

The Purple Shed is located at the Purple House Social Enterprise Hub – 15 Lindsay Ave, East Side NT 0870. Parking – please consider our neighbours and don’t park on verges or across driveways!
