Danny Reiff in his Bush is More Better merchandise
Atitjere (Harts Range) community first approached Purple House in 2018 asking for help to set up dialysis. After 8 years of meetings, knocking on politicians doors and letters to government the dream of setting up dialysis on Country is finally becoming a reality with the clinic planned to be open by the end of the year.

In a letter from the Atitjere Land Aboriginal Corporation Board of Directors they wrote:

“It (Alice Springs) is not our home – out here is our home. We grew up here, our families are here, and our children need to grow up here. Bush is better.

We need old people on country to pass on knowledge to our children, and grandchildren. Once we have dialysis, our people can be here- they can come back here. We can keep our culture strong.”

In a community meeting about dialysis, Peppi Drover came up with the phrase “Bush is More Better” and everyone agreed it was perfect and it has become the unofficial slogan for Atitjere Dialysis ever since.

Daniel (Danny) Reiff is an Atitjere man who has long been part of this movement. Many of his family have been on dialysis and been part of the fight to get dialysis on Country. Through community meetings it was agreed that Danny would be a good person to create an artwork to celebrate Atitjere Dialysis and write out the “Bush is More Better” slogan.

After relocating from Atitjere in 2025 for health reasons, Danny began working within the supported studio program, Bindi Digital Art, at Bindi Enterprises. Since joining, he has embraced digital drawing with a watercolour‑Esque sensibility.

His style is playful and dynamic, and always speaks to the movement and energy of country living; Good Cowboys, Good Country Singers, the cars and trucks which travel and the Plenty Highway, and importantly the road which takes him back to Atitjere, from Mparntwe.

The Bush is More Better hat and t-shirt have been designed by Danny and are a celebration of the community advocacy and this strong story of getting people home.

Danny’s cowboy character comes from his artwork Cowboy Story that was exhibited at the 2026 Salon des Refusés.

It is a proud collaboration between Bindi Enterprises and Purple House.
